🎬 4 Spanish Shows to Watch This Weekend

Weekend Spanish Binge 🍿

¡Hola, feliz viernes, ¿Cómo estás?

I’ve been talking with many of you in class about ways to bring more Spanish into your daily life, so here are some show recommendations I think you’ll enjoy this weekend!

1. El encargado (The Boss on Hulu – Argentina)

It is a sharp and funny dramedy starring Guillermo Francella as Eliseo, a building superintendent who uses his influence to control his tenants. Witty, real-world humor about power and daily life.

2. Cien Años de Soledad (One Hundred Years of Solitude on Netflix – Colombia)

Based on Gabriel García Márquez’s classic novel, this ambitious adaptation dives into magical realism and multi-generational drama. It’s rich and complex, more challenging, but incredibly rewarding.

3. Contigo Capitán (With You, Captain on Netflix – Peru)

A gripping biopic of soccer legend Paolo Guerrero, covering his legal battle and struggle to play in the World Cup. Inspiring and emotional, with strong storytelling.

4. El Eternauta (The Eternaut on Netflix – Argentina)

A post-apocalyptic sci-fi thriller that’s gone viral. Follow a group of survivors in Buenos Aires facing an alien threat after a deadly toxic snowfall. High-quality, thought-provoking, and widely praised.

Pro Tip:

Watch with Spanish audio and English subtitles. Pause to repeat phrases, take note of interesting expressions, and check phrases in your class with your instructor.

Let me know which one you choose. I’d love to hear what you think.

Que tengas un buen fin de semana.
