Do you ever wonder when to use conocer or saber? Here’s a quick guide to help:

• Use conocer to talk about familiarity with people, places, or things:

  • Conozco a María. (I know María.)

  • ¿Conoces París? (Do you know Paris?)

• Use saber to talk about facts or how to do something:

  • Yo sé que mañana va a llover. (I know it’s going to rain tomorrow.)

  • ¿Sabes nadar? (Do you know how to swim?)
