Learning Spanish as an Adult!

+ 5 tips to get you started

Hola, feliz miércoles. ¿Cómo estás?

Bienvenido/a to another edition of “Mastering Spanish Together,” where we share tips, lessons, and resources to help you take your Spanish to the next level. Today, we’re talking about learning Spanish as an adult.

A Positive Scientific Fact:

Did you know? Students who are learning a second language later in life can still benefit from some of the neurological changes that happen to speakers of second languages, no matter what level they are at. Having new experiences (novelty) is an important factor in forming new connections in the brain and strengthening nervous system links. These links and connections are maintained through regular practice.

Here are 5 tips to get you started and stay consistent:

  1. Know Where to Start: Understanding your current level is crucial. Whether you're a complete beginner or have some knowledge, knowing where you stand will help you set realistic goals and track your progress.

  2. Integrate Spanish into Your Life: Surround yourself with the language. Watch movies, listen to music, and read in Spanish. Make it a part of your daily routine to reinforce your learning naturally.

  3. Practice Speaking from Day 1: Don’t wait until you feel “ready.” Start speaking from the very first day, even if it’s just a few words. Practice makes progress!

  4. Make it Relevant: Connect your learning to your personal interests. Whether discussing your hobbies or planning a trip to a Spanish-speaking country, relevance will keep you engaged.

  5. Stay Consistent by Adding Novelty: Consistency is key, but it doesn’t have to be monotonous. Keep things fresh by trying new learning methods, exploring different topics, or joining our Immersive Meetings en Español.
